ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – In one of the villages of the Kurdistan Region in Amedi area, a piece of land has turned into a curse, making the villagers afraid of harvesting it for nearly 50 years.

Kurditan24 reporter Masoud Mohammed visited the village of Harika Shekha in Amedi district in Duhok province, northern Kurdistan Region where the villagers claim that any person who cultivates the field would lose a spouse or a relative.

The villagers have been calling the land, 'the wife-killer' for five decades.

However, some villagers like Birqy Masoud refute the superstition.

Some people from outside of the Harika Shekha village haved tried to bust the myth by farming the land but they also lost family members.

Despite general doubts, people of the village believe that this land remains a curse for anyone who tries to plant anything in it.

Harika Shekha is three kilometers away from the town of Deralok, Duhok province.
