10th Erbil International Marathon sets off

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The 10th edition of the Erbil International Marathon, bearing the theme "Sports Unites Us," on Friday commenced at the Sami Abdulrahman Park.

At least, 4,000 people participated in the event.

Erbil Marathon Organization for Sport and Peace is a non-governmental non-profit sport organization founded officially in April 2015.

The Erbil Marathon Organization aims to organize sport activities and in particular running and marathons. Erbil Marathon use sport and running as a tool for spreading peace and establish love and non-violence in the community.

This event kickstarted at 9:00 in the morning and encompassed two segments: a challenging 42-kilometer race and a shorter 2-kilometer marathon.

A mere 118 individuals were part of the grueling 42-kilometer marathon, most of whom boasted significant expertise both domestically and internationally. In stark contrast, over 3,000 participants joined the 2-kilometer marathon.
