Kurdistan Region treats victims of Hasakah’s wedding attack

Death toll of the suicide attack at a Kurdish wedding in Hasakah rises to 34.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – The Kurdistan Region sent medicine and medical assistance to the Syrian Kurdistan (Rojava) for the wounded victims of the latest suicide attack on Kurds.

On Monday night, a suicide bomber detonated his explosive vest at a Kurdish wedding in northern Hasakah, Syrian Kurdistan (Rojava), killing 34 people and wounding 95 others.

Following the terror attack, the Kurdistan Region authorities announced the Region’s hospitals were ready to receive the wounded.

Director of Health in Zakho told Kurdistan24 on Monday that medical teams were sent to Peshabur border to assist the victims.

In early morning on Tuesday, four injured Kurds were transferred to Duhok hospital. More are expected to arrive at the hospitals in Duhok province, Kurdistan Region, a Kurdistan24 reporter said.

One of the wounded victims transferred to Duhok hospital was a one-year-old baby boy.

The child lost his life shortly after admission, due to acute injuries.

 

In a statement on Tuesday, the Kurdistan Region Presidency (KRP) condemned the terror attack and announced that all the medical facilities in the Kurdistan Region are ready to receive the wounded from Rojava or to send medical aid to Rojava.

Hameed Darbandy, Head of Rojava Affairs at the KRP announced that the Kurdistan Region President instructed all medical facilities to be ready to aid the people of Rojava.

“Last night [Monday] several boxes of medicine were sent to Rojava, a new batch of medical equipment are to be delivered later,” Darbandi said.

 

A Kurdistan24 reporter said that six tons of medicines were sent to Rojava on Tuesday, one ton from the city of Zakho and five tons from Duhok.

The Islamic State (IS) on Tuesday claimed responsibility for the Monday night attack on a wedding hall in the city of Hasaka.
