ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – At least three people have been killed after a missile launched from Iran struck a residential building in the southern Israeli city of Beer Sheva, CNN reported on Tuesday, citing Israel’s emergency services.
According to CNN’s Eugenia Yosef and Lex Harvey, the casualties include a man approximately 40 years old, a woman about 30, and a man around 20. Six additional people sustained injuries ranging from light to moderate, the emergency response organization Magen David Adom (MDA) said in a statement.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that missiles had been launched from Iran toward Israel and issued instructions for residents to seek shelter immediately. The IDF added that its air defense systems were activated to intercept incoming projectiles where possible.
The attack comes just hours after U.S. President Donald J. Trump announced what he called a “Complete and Total CEASEFIRE” between Iran and Israel. The ceasefire, according to Trump’s Truth Social post, was to begin with Iran halting operations at 4 a.m. Tehran time, followed by Israel 12 hours later — ending what he described as “THE 12 DAY WAR.”
However, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi disputed the existence of a formal agreement. In a post on X, Araghchi said that Iran had no intention to continue its military response provided that Israel stopped its “illegal aggression” by the designated hour. He added that Iranian military operations continued “until the very last minute,” and that no final decision had yet been made on halting Iran’s actions.
Tuesday’s fatal strike in Beer Sheva raises fresh questions about the status and viability of the reported ceasefire, which President Trump had hailed as a major diplomatic achievement. In another Truth Social post, Trump claimed that both Israel and Iran had simultaneously sought peace and expressed optimism about “LOVE, PEACE, AND PROSPERITY” for both nations.
Despite those declarations, ongoing missile activity and casualties on the ground suggest that any ceasefire—if reached at all—remains fragile and unenforced.
