BCF, Canadian aid group deliver medical supplies to northeast Syria

The Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF) and Health Partners International of Canada (HPIC) delivered a shipment of medical supplies to northeast Syria (Rojava) on Thursday.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF) and Health Partners International of Canada (HPIC) delivered a shipment of medical supplies to northeast Syria (Rojava) on Thursday.

Trucks carried much-needed health supplies for both adults and children such as allergy medicine, anti-inflammatory drugs, and painkillers, said BCF representative Ahmed Abdo.

He added that the items had been requested by the Kurdish Red Crescent, a humanitarian organization that provides crucial aid to multiple vulnerable populations in northeastern Syria including large numbers of displaced families.

As the trucks crossed from the Kurdistan Region to the Syrian side of the Semalka border crossing, Kurdish Red Crescent workers unloaded the supplies and took possession of them.

The BCF’s humanitarian contributions are often prepared in cooperation with other international aid groups and local non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

This is the tenth such delivery of various kinds of aid that the BCF has delivered to Rojava.

The BCF is one of the most active humanitarian organizations in the Kurdistan Region, regularly providing substantial amounts of aid to displaced persons and refugees in Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, and northern Syria. It also has multiple programs which aim to improve the lives of displaced children.

Recently, the organization dispatched food aid to nearly 500 families affected by the massive explosion at the port of Beirut that caused massive damage and large numbers of casualties in early August.

The organization was founded in 2005, shortly after the overthrow of Saddam Hussein. In its own words, it “strives to honor the great legacy of Mulla Mustafa Barzani, the leader of the Kurdish Liberation Movement and influencer of the contemporary Kurdish nation.”
