KRG Presidency condemns “terrorist attacks” on PDK-Iran headquarters in Erbil

In a statement on Wednesday, the Kurdistan Region Presidency (KRP) strictly condemned the twin explosions in Erbil that killed seven and injured three people.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – In a statement on Wednesday, the Kurdistan Region Presidency (KRP) strictly condemned the twin explosions in Erbil that killed seven and injured three people.

The twin explosions occurred around 10:30 p.m. in the city of Koya in Erbil province.

“Besides strongly condemning the terrorist attacks and those who are behind the violence, we send condolences to the victims’ families and wish a speedy recovery for the wounded,” read the statement.

The statement also mentioned the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) would do its best to find the perpetrators of the attack and bring them to court.

“We tell those who are behind these attacks that any attempts and plans against our people will certainly result in failure and defeat,” the statement informed.

“The related security forces and agencies should find the perpetrators of the terror act and take all precautionary measures to prevent such attacks from happening again,” the KRP report added.

Moreover, the KRP stressed that “joint efforts” were required to “prevent and eventually eliminate terror.”

According to the Kurdistan Democratic Party (PDK)-Iran announcement on Wednesday, six people were killed and four more injured.

The victims were members of the PDK political bureau Ali Qoitasi and Wahab Mir Khzri, PDK Peshmerga fighters Salar Baqri and Arsalan Abbas Niya, a member of the PDK Democratic Youth Union Nasir Kareemi, and a security member of the Kurdistan Region Adnan Abdullah.

The spokesperson of the Koya security told Kurdistan24 on Wednesday another security member named Sangar Ali died in hospital due to his critical injuries.

Moreover, during a press conference, the Secretary-General of the PDK Khalid Azizi accused Iran of being behind the twin explosions.

However, the investigation of the explosions is still ongoing, and no one has been officially blamed for the attack.
