PM Barzani, Hadi al-Amiri stress new government must protect rights of all Iraqis

The officials discussed the latest developments in Iraq and ongoing efforts to form a new federal government, a statement from Barzani's office said.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Monday met with the head of the Fatah Alliance, Hadi al-Amiri.

The officials discussed the latest developments in Iraq and ongoing efforts to form a new federal government, a statement from Barzani's office said.

They stressed the incoming Baghdad government must protect the rights of all Iraqis, achieve stability, establish a true partnership among the country's different components, and arrive at a constitutional resolution to longstanding Erbil-Baghdad disputes.

Amiri, a senior figure in the Shia-led Coordination Framework alliance, arrived in Erbil earlier today to hold meetings with top Kurdistan Region officials to discuss the government formation process.

He also met with the Kurdish leader and head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), Masoud Barzani, according to a statement from the latter's office. They discussed coordination among Iraq's different components on government formation.
