ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – A Turkish drone carried out a targeted strike in the northwestern Syrian city of Manbij on Tuesday, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) war monitor reported.

“SOHR sources have reported that a Turkish drone has targeted a position of ‘Manbij military council’ of SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) on Arab and Mohsenli frontlines, northwest of Manbij in the eastern countryside of Aleppo,” read the SOHR report.

“No reports of the number of casualties have been obtained by SOHR,” it added.

The drone attack came amidst an exchange of rocket fire between Turkish-backed militias and the Manbij Military Council.

North Press Agency, citing a security source, also reported that a Turkish drone “targeted the outskirts of the villages of Arab Hassan and al-Muhsinli, north of Manbij, northern Syria.”

The drone took off from a Turkish base near Awn al-Dadat north of Manbij and targeted houses outside the two villages, according to the North Press source.

“The source did not mention any other details as to whether there were human or material losses in the place,” the report added.

It also noted that a drone bombed the outskirts of the village of Umm Adasa (al-Farat), northwest of Manbij, on Feb. 5, but no human or material losses were recorded.

According to a Feb. 14 SOHR report, Turkish drones have carried out six attacks since early February. These strikes targeted vehicles and positions in SDF-held parts of Aleppo and Hasakah, “killing eight people, including two children and a female fighter, and injuring 13 others.”
