ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service announced on Tuesday that it arrested a fugitive in coordination with the Kurdistan Region's Directorate of Combating Terrorism.

On its official Facebook page, the service said that a "terrorist fugitive had been arrested in coordination with the General Directorate of Combating Terrorism in Erbil."

Last month, the Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service announced the arrest of five ISIS members in coordination with the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in Erbil.

Two days ago, the Anti-Terrorism Directorate in Erbil announced that two ISIS operatives had been handed over to the investigative court in Nineveh province.

The Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service previously praised the good coordination with the security services of the Kurdistan Region in tracking down and arresting ISIS members.

The Kurdistan Region has repeatedly stressed the importance of security coordination between Erbil and Baghdad to combat ISIS remnants in the security gaps of the disputed territories and maintain security and stability.

Earlier on Tuesday, Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) President Masoud Barzani discussed the need for security coordination between the Kurdish Peshmerga and the Iraqi armed forces in a meeting with Maj Gen John W. Brennan, the commander of the Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve.
