Masoud Barzani discusses coordination between Peshmerga and Iraqi forces against ISIS with coalition commander

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) President Masoud Barzani discussed the need for security coordination between the Kurdish Peshmerga and the Iraqi armed forces in a meeting with the commander of the Combined Joint Task Force on Tuesday.

"Barzani, met, in Erbil, with commander of the Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve, Maj Gen John W. Brennan," read a statement from the Barzani Headquarters about the meeting.

The statement added that "both sides discussed the on-field situation against the terrorist group (ISIS) in Iraq and Syria, emphasizing coordination and joint work between the Iraqi forces and the Peshmerga forces including steps taken by the Ministry of Peshmerga in carrying out reforms."

The statement explained that during the meeting, Barzani and Brennan emphasized the importance of "further cooperation and coordination between the Peshmerga forces and the international coalition in confronting terrorism."

"President Masoud Barzani met Maj Gen John Brennan, Coalition Forces Commander for Iraq and Syria. Current situation and terrorism's threat to regional stability were discussed, and stressed military cooperation between Peshmerga forces, Iraqi Army and Int. Coalition forces," Safeen Dizayee, Head of the Kurdistan Region's Department of Foreign Relations, tweeted after the meeting.
