ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – An apparent Turkish cyber-attack on Friday temporarily seized control of the official Twitter account of Hoshyar Zebari, a Kurdish politician who served as a high-profile minister in Iraq's federal government for more than a decade.
Zebari was the Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2003 until 2014 and then the Minister of Finance from 2014 to 2016.

Soon, after taking control of Zebari's account, the hacker or hackers posted a photo with Turkish text stating it had been “captured in the memory of our martyrs,” a slogan against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
“Your account has been hacked by the Turkish Cyber Army Ayyildiz Tim. Your DM correspondence and important data have been captured!” read another tweet published on the account while it was being hacked.
Zebari is a senior member of the leading Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) politburo, led by Masoud Barzani. Since 2016, Zebari has held no formal governmental posts in the Kurdistan Region or Iraq but remains an important political figure.
