PM Barzani discusses tourism, agriculture, trade with Qatari counterpart

The meeting came before Barzani met with Emir Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, the Gulf state’s leader.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with his Qatari counterpart Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani on Wednesday in Doha, where they discussed developing bilateral relations. 

Barzani and the Qatari prime minister agreed to foster their ties in various sectors, including trade, agriculture, tourism, and investment, according to a statement from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). 

The meeting came before Barzani met with Emir Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, the Gulf state’s leader.

Barzani and the Emir discussed similar fields of cooperation in their meeting, according to the KRG statement. 

Earlier Wednesday, the Kurdish leader and his accompanying delegation met with the Qatari ministers of trade and energy to speak about the areas of cooperation between their two nations. 

The two sides agreed to form joint technical committees to follow up on the areas of interest, Dara Rashid, a member of the Kurdish delegation and minister of planning, told Kurdistan 24 on Wednesday. 

As part of his official two-day visit to the Gulf state, Barzani visited the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development and Al Bayt Stadium, where the 2022 FIFA World Cup matches are scheduled to take place.
