ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Wednesday in a post on X severely condemned the bombings near the grave of General Qasem Soleimani in Iran, which have thus far killed 103 people and injured 141 others.

“I condemn the cowardly attacks in the Iranian city of Kerman [in Iran] earlier today,” the Kurdish leader noted.

On Wednesday, two bombings occurred minutes apart in Iran in a ceremony commemorating the fourth anniversary of the death of General Qasem Soleimani.

No group has thus far claimed responsibility for the attack.

“My thoughts and condolences are with the people and government of the Islamic Republic of Iran in this difficult time and I wish the injured a speedy recovery,” Barzani concluded.

Per the AFP, “footage suggested that the second blast occurred some 15 minutes after the first. A delayed second explosion is often used by militants to target emergency personnel responding to the scene and inflict more casualties [...] People could be heard screaming in state TV footage.”
