ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - The Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Municipalities and Tourism has embarked on a significant initiative aimed at land distribution, signaling a pivotal moment for economic growth, market dynamics, and municipal expansion in the Kurdistan Region.

Sasan Awni, KRG’s Minister of Municipalities and Tourism, underscores the transformative impact of this endeavor.

In response to the announcement by Kurdistan Region's Prime Minister Masrour Barzani regarding the allocation of land to government employees and salaried workers, Minister Awni convened a strategic meeting on Tuesday to orchestrate the preparatory measures for the distribution process.

The gathering, presided over by Minister Awni, witnessed the participation of key stakeholders, including advisors, directors-general from the Ministry of Municipalities and Tourism, as well as mayors and development planners from various provinces and autonomous administrations.

Highlighting the significance of the Kurdistan Regional Government's decision to distribute land, Minister Awni emphasized the integral role this initiative plays in advancing municipal boundaries and fostering sustainable development across the region.

Minister Awni's directives to promptly initiate preparatory measures underscore the government's commitment to ensuring expeditious and transparent allocation procedures. Notably, he stressed the importance of accurately estimating the number of beneficiaries and allocating land accordingly.

Emphasizing the adherence to master plans, Minister Awni underscored the necessity of meticulous urban planning, encompassing considerations such as street width, green spaces, and public amenities. Furthermore, he underscored the imperative of expanding municipal boundaries if necessary to accommodate land distribution requirements.

During the deliberations, participants shared insights on preparation methodologies and raised pertinent concerns. Minister Awni underscored the establishment of specialized committees within municipalities to streamline the land distribution process, ensuring efficiency and fairness.
