KDP welcomes agreement with Iraqi government on timely salaries

"Of course, the agreement was pleasant for us, the Kurdistan nation, and the will of the KRG to solve this problem was evident," she said, adding that the budget law must be amended.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - In an interview with Kurdistan 24, the head of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) faction in the Iraqi parliament Dr. Vian Sabri stated that, as representatives of the Kurdish nation, they are very pleased with the agreement reached between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi government.

"We, as the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) faction and representatives of the Kurdish nation, are very pleased with the latest agreement between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi government," said Vian Sabri, head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) faction. "Our demand has been that the salaries of the employees reach them on time."

"Of course, the agreement was pleasant for us, the Kurdistan nation, and the will of the Kurdistan Regional Government to solve this problem was evident," she said, adding that the budget law must be amended.

"If we remove the salaries of the KRG employees from the 'actual expenditures' to put on the 'governor's expenditures,' it will be very good, and we need to go through this process," she highlighted.

"All Kurdish factions in the Iraqi parliament must work together to ensure salaries are sent on time," she said.

She added that the constitution does not specify that the Iraqi government should send salaries to the Kurdistan Region, but rather that the Kurdistan Region's share must be sent; that is, a portion of the revenue of the federal government must be allocated to the Kurdistan Region.

"The Iraqi government has cut many other shares of the Kurdistan Region. For example, there is an annual budget called the emergency budget that we have the right to receive," she pointed out.

Sabri came to a conclusion and stated that, "Every employee must have a bank account, so MyAccount and 'Tawtin' (centralization of salaries) are basically moving in the same direction, with the difference being the cost of MyAccount which is considerably lower than the Iraqi proposed plan," she said.

"The banks involved in MyAccount initiative were approved by the Central Bank of Iraq," she reitirated.
