President Barzani, KRG highlight workers’ role in developing Kurdistan
The President and the KRG of the Kurdistan Region congratulated and praised Kurdistan workers while marking the International Labor’s Day on Monday.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan24) – The President and Ministers’ Council of the Kurdistan Region congratulated and praised workers in the Region while marking the International Worker’s Day, also known as Labor day, on Monday.
The President of the Kurdistan Region Masoud Barzani released a statement on his official Facebook account, stating laborers in Kurdistan represent the country's hardworking and devoted class.
“Respecting workers’ rights, improving welfare and justice systems are indicators of growth in the economy,” Barzani said, affirming the Kurdistan Region must move in that direction.
The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Council of Ministers likened Kurdistan's laborers to the Peshmerga forces on the front lines fighting against the Islamic State (IS).
“Just like how Peshmerga heroes protect Kurdistan's border from terror, workers with their strength and muscle rebuild Kurdistan,” the post read.
The statement also highlighted the role of laborers in “reconstructing the towns and villages that had been ruined throughout history,” and described how they continued to support reconstruction efforts in the Kurdistan Region post-2003.
The Council expressed its support for the rights of workers and called on the private sector to improve their working conditions, wages, and safety.
