ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The International Coalition for Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) provided another batch of Humvees to the Kurdistan Region’s Peshmerga forces on Wednesday.

The Humvees were supplied to the Kurdistan Region Ministry of Peshmerga Ministry units and infantry brigades, supervised by Deputy Director, Military Advisor Group in the Kurdistan Region, and Deputy Chief of Staff for Administration and Logistics Major General Haider Hoshmand.

In a speech delivered at the handover ceremony, Hoshmand thanked the coalition forces, particularly the United States, for their ongoing and tremendous support to Peshmerga.

“These military supports are important for strengthening the abilities of the Peshmerga forces in their fight against ISIS,” he said.

This initiative is part of a planned program to arm and equip the Peshmerga units under the Kurdistan Region Ministry of Peshmerga as part of the Peshmerga reform process.

In February, the CJTF-OIR Advisors delivered another set of essential ammunition to the Peshmerga to help it sustain its mission against ISIS.

“The Coalition is committed to assisting our Peshmerga partners to sustain the fight,” Col. Todd Burroughs, CJTF-OIR’s Deputy Director, Military Advisor Group (North) in the Kurdistan Region, tweeted on Feb. 26.
