ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – President of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and former President of the Kurdistan Region Masoud Barzani met with the United Nations Secretary-General Special Representative (SRSG) Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert in Erbil on Wednesday.

Barzani and Hennis-Plasschaert "discussed latest developments, Government formation in Iraq, constructive dialogue and role of UN in reaching a political solution to Iraq's current deadlock," Safeen Dizayee, Head of the Kurdistan Region's Department of Foreign Relations, tweeted after the meeting.

"Views were also shared on regional and international issues."

In a tweet, United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) said both sides "focused on the recent elections and latest political developments in #Iraq and #Kurdistan Region."
