UPDATED: Senior SDF commander has died in Turkish drone strike

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – A senior Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) commander was killed in a Turkish drone attack near Azadi Square in Derik, Hasakah province, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).

The commander, identified as Muhammad Shibli, worked as a coordinator with the International Coalition Forces, whom he fought alongside in major battles against ISIS.

He had previously survived an attempted assassination by Turkish drones.

According to the latest data update from SOHR, Turkey has executed 92 drone strikes since the beginning of 2023.

These strikes have resulted in 76 deaths, as well as 84 injuries.
