ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – A gas pipeline rupture near a village in southern Kirkuk prompted a temporary evacuation and suspension of gas supply through the affected pipeline for approximately five hours.
According to Kurdistan24 reporter Hemen Dalo in Kirkuk, the incident occurred around 04:00 am on Monday, April 29, 2024, near the village of Kizilyar. The rupture impacted the gas supply to the Northern Gas Company.

Civil defense teams and technical personnel from Northern Gas are actively engaged in repair efforts. Officials from the company have confirmed to Kurdistan24 that the incident was not a result of terrorism and that gas supply through the pipeline has been temporarily suspended.
Northern Gas officials have assured that repairs are underway and anticipate resuming gas supply to the company within the next few hours. Fortunately, no casualties were reported as a result of the incident.
