PM Barzani meets with acting Speaker of Iraqi Parliament

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - On Thursday, May 30, 2024, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, met with the Acting Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, in Baghdad.

The meeting focused on the crucial importance of securing and guaranteeing the constitutional rights and financial entitlements of the Kurdistan Region within the federal general budget.

Both sides underscored the need for these rights to be upheld to ensure fair and equitable treatment of the Kurdistan Region in financial allocations and budgetary considerations.

Before his meeting with the Acting Speaker of Iraqi Parliament Mohsen al-Mandalawi, Prime Minister Barzani held discussions with several prominent figures, including Iraq's Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, Faleh al-Fayaz head of Popular Mobilization Force (PMF), the Chairman of the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council Fayeq Zedan, Khamis al-Khanjar the leader of Sunni Sovereignty Alliance, Qais al-Khazzali, the secretary general of the Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq militia, Hadi al-Amiri, the secretary general of the Badr Organization, and Iraqi National Security Advisor Qassem al-Araji.

These engagements are part of Barzani's broader efforts to foster stronger relations and collaboration between Erbil and Baghdad, addressing both longstanding and emerging challenges in the process.

These meetings aim to strengthen cooperation and address various challenges facing the Kurdistan Region and Iraq as a whole.

Prime Minister Barzani’s visit underscores his commitment to addressing the financial and administrative rights of the Kurdistan Region, aiming to foster stability and economic strength through constructive dialogue with the federal government.
