"Endless Steps" marathon in Zakho ended, winners awarded

The marathon saw participation from dozens of individuals from abroad, various parts of Kurdistan, and many cities in Baghdad and southern and central Iraq.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - The "Endless Steps" Marathon, sponsored by Kurdistan24 media, took place in Zakho city on Friday, drawing approximately 6,000 participants.

The event, organized by the Kurdish Volunteer Organization (Volunteer.KRD), started at the Zakho corniche and covered a distance of 10 kilometers.

The marathon saw participation from dozens of individuals from abroad, various parts of Kurdistan, and many cities in Baghdad and southern and central Iraq.

Participants traveled to Zakho to join in the competition, highlighting the widespread appeal and inclusivity of the event.

After a fierce competition, prizes were awarded to the top finishers in both the male and female categories. Kurdish participants from Eastern Kurdistan (Rojhilat) dominated the prizes.

Male Category Winners:

1. Hussein Keyhan - First place, awarded 2 million dinars.
2. Aqeel Yaba (from Baghdad) - Second place, awarded $1.5 million.
3. Reving Mahmood (from Erbil) - Third place.

Female Category Winners:

1. Bushra Rauf (from Eastern Kurdistan/Rojhilat) - First place.
2. Mehraban Ali (from Erbil) - Second place.
3. Fawzia Badran and Suham Taha - Tied for third place.

The marathon not only celebrated athletic prowess but also fostered a sense of community and cultural exchange, bringing together people from various regions to enjoy the beauty of Zakho and compete in a spirit of camaraderie.

The winners were honored with valuable gifts and prizes, recognizing their achievements and dedication.
