Kurdistan Region's President Nechirvan Barzani meets with French Ambassador to strengthen ties

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - On Sunday, June 9, Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani received French Ambassador to Iraq Patrick Durel in Erbil.
According to a statement released by the Kurdistan Region’s Presidency, both Kurdistan Region's President Barzani and Ambassador Durel reiterated their commitment to enhancing French relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, highlighting opportunities for expanding mutual cooperation across various fields.
The statement also noted that the two leaders exchanged views on the current situation in the Kurdistan Region.
They agreed on the importance of holding the Kurdistan parliamentary elections at an appropriate time this year, ensuring the participation of all political parties and communities in the region.
Another key topic of discussion was the significance of dialogue in resolving issues between Erbil and Baghdad.
Both sides positively evaluated the progress of bilateral relations, with the French Ambassador expressing appreciation for President Barzani’s efforts and affirming France's support in addressing these issues.
The meeting also covered maintaining political stability in Iraq, regional situations, and other common interests, with the French Consul General in the Kurdistan Region also in attendance.
