Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani Meets Acting Iranian Foreign Minister

The meeting also covered the overall situation in the region and several issues of common interest. The discussions were attended by a number of Kurdistan Regional Government officials.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – On Friday afternoon, Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani received Acting Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani and his accompanying delegation in Erbil.

According to a statement from the Kurdistan Region's Presidency, both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining strong relations between Iran, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region, rooted in good neighborliness and mutual interests.

They expressed a mutual desire to enhance these relations, particularly in economic and commercial areas.

Acting Foreign Minister Bagheri conveyed the Islamic Republic of Iran's gratitude to the Kurdistan Region for facilitating the passage of Iranian pilgrims visiting shrines and holy sites in Iraq.

President Barzani thanked Iran for its support to Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and highlighted the positive relations between the two countries. He acknowledged Iran as an important neighbor and country, pointing to their long-standing relationship.
