Substance abuse treatment center to be opened in Erbil

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw met with a delegation from Sterling Foundation Management, accompanied by Dilovan Fatih Jalal, Director General of Health, and Naz Jalal, Director of Migration and Immigration in Erbil.
The Sterling Foundation Management delegation arrived in Erbil intending to establish a treatment center for drug addicts and mentally ill patients.
Governor Khoshnaw discussed the severe dangers posed by drug abuse and its psychological impact on society, emphasizing the government's strong stance against drug trafficking.
Khoshnaw pledged full cooperation and support to facilitate the construction of the treatment center in Erbil, highlighting its significance.
The delegation expressed their readiness to work with the Erbil governor and the Erbil General Directorate of Health to enhance services in the health and education sectors, particularly in combating drug-related issues.
Figures from the Kurdistan Region's General Directorate of Anti-Narcotics reveal that 580 suspects were arrested in the first four months of this year. Among them, 328 were involved in drug trafficking, and 76 kilograms of drugs were confiscated.
