PM Barzani welcomes clarification from the Iraqi federal court
“I welcome today's clarification by the Iraqi federal court on the use of government and private banks in the KRG's financial inclusion initiative, #MyAccount,” the prime minister said.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Wednesday in a post on X welcomed clarification by the Iraqi federal court.
“I welcome today's clarification by the Iraqi federal court on the use of government and private banks in the KRG's financial inclusion initiative, #MyAccount,” the prime minister said.
He also added “That has been the guiding principle of the #MyAccount initiative: working through and by @cbiraq. Today’s clarification reaffirms that inherent right. I urge KRG employees to register as soon as possible.”
“Today's progress allows us to accelerate the #MyAccount initiative and deliver on our promise of making one million citizens bankable by the end of the year. It also brings more certainty to the Erbil-Baghdad relationship and creates space to resolve other disputes,” the premier further said.
The Iraqi Federal Supreme Court on Tuesday approved the process of banking the salaries of Kurdistan Region civil servants through the MyAccount initiative.
Eight banks have so far taken part in the project, including BBAC, Cihan, RT Bank, Bank of Baghdad, Iraqi Islamic Bank, National Bank of Iraq, Trade Bank of Iraq, and the International Development Bank.
MyAccount project is the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) financial inclusion program which aims to "provide public sector beneficiaries with a safe and convenient way to access their salaries."
I welcome today's clarification by the Iraqi federal court on the use of government and private banks in the KRG's financial inclusion initiative, #MyAccount.
