President Barzani's historic visit to Baghdad marks a turning point: observers
Observers hailed the visit as a historic and crucial moment, emphasizing the importance of strengthening the partnership between the region and the central government.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – President Masoud Barzani's recent visit to Baghdad, the first in six years, has been described by experts as highly significant amid critical international developments and efforts to ensure adherence to internal agreements and strengthen the partnership between the central government and the Kurdistan Region.
Observers hailed the visit as a historic and crucial moment, emphasizing the importance of strengthening the partnership between the region and the central government.
This visit provides a unique opportunity to implement previous agreements that had been neglected by previous governments.
Rahim al-Aboudi, an Iraqi politician associated with the Coordination Framework, told Kurdistan24, “This visit is a historical after six years of estrangement between Mr. Barzani and Baghdad. The circumstances were right for this visit, which aims to document decisions and lay the groundwork for a genuine partnership that serves the interests of the country and the region. It's essential to maintain unity and document these agreements through real decisions that address the aspirations of Iraqi citizens, both in the region and the center.”
The significance of President Barzani's visit extends beyond local dynamics. Given his strong international relations, the visit is also seen as crucial in navigating the global geopolitical landscape and mitigating the risks of regional conflicts.
Political affairs expert Najm al-Qassab stated, "I think Mr. Barzani wanted to convey a message of calm and reassurance for the coming period. If Iraq gets entangled in conflicts such as the Gaza war or the Lebanon war, it would suffer greatly."
Experts have underscored that President Barzani's visit is historic and pivotal.
As a key figure in Iraq's political process, President Barzani's involvement is seen as vital in resolving conflicts among political factions in Baghdad and bringing long-term benefits to the region and the country.
