ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – In an exclusive interview with Kurdistan24, former Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi shared insights from his conversation with Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) President Masoud Barzani following Barzani's recent visit to Baghdad.
Allawi relayed that President Barzani expressed satisfaction with the outcome of his discussions with Iraqi officials.
Allawi emphasized that Barzani's visit to Baghdad was a testament to his commitment to seeking solutions rather than inciting conflict. "A preference for dialogue over threats characterizes President Barzani's approach," Allawi remarked.
He highlighted that President Barzani's natural inclination towards resolving issues has significantly influenced the unity of Iraqi perspectives on the Kurdish matter.
Furthermore, Allawi recounted a personal exchange with Barzani during the Baghdad meetings. "I inquired about his meetings, and he responded that he was pleased with the results. This response underscores Barzani's solution-oriented mindset and independent stance," Allawi noted.
He also affirmed his unwavering support for President Barzani, reiterating his belief in Barzani's dedication to constructive and peaceful resolutions.
President Barzani recently conducted 17 productive meetings with Iraqi political party leaders and senior governmental and political officials. The purpose of the visit was to address internal issues in Iraq, resolve the longstanding disputes between Erbil and Baghdad, foster a climate of goodwill, and underscore the importance of ongoing collaboration among all stakeholders in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq.
