New direct flights from Erbil to London, Tunisia announced

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The head of the Kurdistan Region's Aviation and Tourism Companies Union, Lawand Mamondy, announced the launch of new flights from Erbil International Airport.

Speaking to Kurdistan 24, Mamondy revealed that Erbil International Airport has commenced direct flights between Erbil and London every Friday. He highlighted that the airport has received a higher international rating, noting that flights from London to Erbil take four hours and 45 minutes. However, due to British security protocols, the flight to London includes a stopover, extending the duration by an hour and a half.

Mamondy also mentioned plans to coordinate with Erbil International Airport to bring a British security team to ensure that the airport's equipment and inspection operations meet high standards.

In addition, he announced the start of direct flights from Erbil to Tunisia beginning July 15, with flights scheduled every Monday. This development follows Tunisia's decision to cancel visas for Iraqi citizens, further enhancing the connection between Erbil and the African continent.

Mamondy emphasized that Erbil International Airport and Fly Erbil are working diligently to open more routes for the Kurdistan Region. He stated that the Kurdistan Regional Government and Erbil International Airport support private sector companies and projects, aiming for their success.
