Water shortages, interruptions "will be resolved soon": Erbil Governor

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw assured residents that the ongoing water shortages and interruptions in several city neighborhoods "will be resolved soon."
This announcement followed an extensive meeting chaired by Governor Khoshnaw on Sunday, attended by relevant authorities.
Governor Khoshnaw called upon the media and religious leaders to educate citizens on the importance of water conservation and prevent waste. The meeting discussed steps and projects to provide long-term solutions to the city's water distribution challenges.
Key Initiatives:
- Immediate Response: Khoshnaw directed all concerned parties to respond quickly to citizens' demands and emphasized the provincial council's support.
- New Water Wells: Several projects have been launched to address the water shortage, including establishing new water wells to replace those that have dried up due to climate change and drought.
- Provision of Essentials: The governor highlighted efforts to provide electricity and other necessities to ensure an adequate water supply for residents.
- Tank Allocation: In collaboration with the Barzani Charity Foundation, tanks have been allocated to supply water to neighborhoods suffering from shortages.
According to the Erbil Provincial Council, the clean water problem has been resolved in most neighborhoods, and improvements are expected in the remaining areas soon.
Governor Khoshnaw reiterated that solving the water issue is a top priority for the ninth government and Prime Minister Masrour Barzani. He expressed confidence that water problems in Erbil will end in the future through the implementation of several projects.
