Erbil Governor, Istanbul Mayor exchange invitations to strengthen bilateral ties
During their meeting, Governor Khoshnaw officially invited Mayor İmamoğlu to visit Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Regional Government. In turn, Mayor İmamoğlu extended an invitation to Governor Khoshnaw to visit Istanbul.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw and Mayor of Istanbul Ekrem İmamoğlu met on Thursday on the sidelines of the Climate Change Conference and the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris, discussing the development of bilateral relations between Erbil and Istanbul.
During their meeting, Governor Khoshnaw officially invited Mayor İmamoğlu to visit Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Regional Government. In turn, Mayor İmamoğlu extended an invitation to Governor Khoshnaw to visit Istanbul.
Both invitations were accepted, and the officials emphasized the importance of expanding bilateral relations between the two cities.
The annual trade between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey stands at approximately $11 billion, with 75% of imports coming from Turkey and distributed to lower and central Iraqi cities.
In a separate meeting in Paris, Governor Khoshnaw also met with Ammar Musa Kazim, the Mayor of Baghdad. The two officials underscored the importance of strengthening and developing relations between Erbil and Baghdad.
