PM Masrour Barzani orders land distribution to employees, pensioners of Article 140 territories

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Kurdistan Region’s Prime Minister Masrour Barzani has mandated the distribution of land to KRG employees and pensioners within the boundaries of Article 140 of the Constitution and in Kurdish territories outside the Kurdistan Region control.

On Sunday, Sasan Awni, Kurdistan Region’s Minister of Municipalities and Tourism, announced, "Prime Minister Masrour Barzani has instructed us to take the necessary steps to provide land to KRG employees and pensioners, who hold the information cards of areas covered by Article 140 of the Constitution and Kurdish territories outside the Kurdistan Region control."

"We have communicated with all ministries, departments, offices, and institutions of the KRG to support the Prime Minister's directive. They are to issue land forms to employees and pensioners, including information on the territories specified by Article 140 and outside the Kurdistan Region control. Subsequently, the Ministry of Municipalities and Tourism will determine the location of the land," Awni stated.

This initiative aims to ensure that KRG employees and pensioners receive allocated land as part of their benefits, promoting stability and welfare within the region.

In a proactive measure aimed at addressing the housing needs of governmental employees, the Kurdistan Region's (KRG) Minister of Municipalities and Tourism, in response to the directive issued by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, has issued a directive mandating all municipalities to furnish comprehensive reports within a week, delineating the allocation of land and the workforce distribution across the region.

Chairing the second meeting of the municipal council on Thursday (May 9, 2024), Sasan Awni, KRG's Minister of Municipalities and Tourism, spearheaded discussions to kickstart the implementation of measures aimed at facilitating the equitable distribution of land to municipal employees.
