KRG Interior Minister, top German official discuss enhanced cooperation

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On Friday, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Interior Minister Rebar Ahmed met with Roman Pozek, the Interior Minister of the German federal state of Hesse, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation and coordination between their respective ministries.

The meeting, held at the Interior Ministry headquarters in Wiesbaden, focused on various areas of mutual interest. Key topics included the exchange of expertise in police capacity building, civil defense, criminal evidence handling, and addressing illegal immigration.

Minister Ahmad expressed gratitude to the German government and its citizens for their continued support, particularly for their assistance to refugees and the Peshmerga forces in the fight against ISIS. He emphasized the KRG's commitment to upholding the values of democracy, human rights, and freedom of expression, highlighting the sacrifices made by the Kurdistan Region in these areas.

The discussions aimed at fostering a closer working relationship between the two interior ministries, with both parties recognizing the importance of international collaboration in addressing common security challenges.
