KRG Interior Minister meets with Baden-Württemberg Parliament President to strengthen bilateral ties
During the meeting, Minister Ahmed expressed gratitude on behalf of the KRG to the German government and its people for their continued humanitarian and military support in the fight against ISIS.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Rebar Ahmed, the Minister of Interior for the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), met with Muhterem Aras, President of the State Parliament of Baden-Württemberg, Germany, on Monday, according to a statement from the KRG Interior Ministry.
During the meeting, Minister Ahmed expressed gratitude on behalf of the KRG to the German government and its people for their continued humanitarian and military support in the fight against ISIS. He highlighted the significant assistance provided by the Baden-Württemberg region, particularly in supporting Yezidi refugees from the Kurdistan Region who have sought refuge in Germany.
President Aras commended the KRG for its efforts in providing aid and shelter to a substantial number of refugees, emphasizing the Kurdistan Region's role in upholding the values of ethnic and religious coexistence.
The discussions also focused on enhancing bilateral relations between the Kurdistan Region and Baden-Württemberg, particularly in security and culture. Both parties underscored the importance of ongoing humanitarian assistance and collaborative efforts to combat illegal migration.
On Friday, the KRG Interior Minister met with Roman Pozek, the Interior Minister of the German federal state of Hesse, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation and coordination between their respective ministries.
