KRP Nechirvan Barzani meets with Commander of International Coalition Forces

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On Thursday, the Kurdistan Region’s President Nechirvan Barzani met with Maj. Gen. Kevin C. Leahy, Commander of the Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR).

The meeting focused on the ongoing threat posed by ISIS and the importance of continued cooperation between the Iraqi army, Peshmerga forces, and the International Coalition to eliminate the terrorist group.

Both sides acknowledged the serious danger ISIS presents and emphasized the necessity of maintaining the Coalition's missions and strengthening joint efforts to ensure the complete eradication of the terrorist organization.

The meeting also addressed the unification and reform of the Peshmerga forces, highlighting the successful progress made in these areas. President Barzani reaffirmed the Kurdistan Region's commitment to completing the unification process and removing any obstacles that may hinder its progress. He expressed gratitude for the International Coalition's support and cooperation.

The meeting, attended by the Minister of Peshmerga Affairs, the Chief of Staff of the Peshmerga, and the US Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, also discussed the complex regional situation and the need to preserve stability and prevent further complications in the Middle East.
