KDP faction, United Nineveh abstained from meeting by Nineveh Provincial Council
Last month, on the 2nd, the Nineveh provincial council replaced a number of mayors and district managers in Nineveh, without the presence of KDP’s faction and United Nineveh’s members.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – The Head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party KDP’s faction, Ahmed Kanan Kiki in the Nineveh province, stated in an interview with Kurdistan24, on Thursday “KDP and several other political parties in the Nineveh provincial council, which has 13 seats, will become the opposition,”
During the interview he disclosed that those who are in charge of the Nineveh Provincial Council want to destroy the province and terminate the coexistence. “Since they are in power, we will not return to the provincial council” He further revealed.
Last month, on the 2nd, the Nineveh provincial council replaced a number of mayors and district managers in Nineveh, without the presence of KDP’s faction and United Nineveh’s members.
The main concerns expressed about those areas because of majority Kurds-residential, however, locate outside the authority of Kurdistan Region.
According to the sources, in the meantime, KDP faction and the United Nineveh abstained from the meeting and suspended their membership in the provincial council.
The Nineveh Provincial Council consists of 29 seats, and it is divided into two main coalitions, the United Nineveh Coalition, which has 13 seats, that includes the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).
The other coalition is Future Nineveh, has 16 seats which includes the other Forces too.
