PM Barzani welcomes new Turkish Ambassador to Iraq, emphasizes strengthening ties

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with the newly appointed Turkish Ambassador to Iraq, Anil Bora İnan, on Wednesday, according to a statement from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

During the meeting, Prime Minister Barzani congratulated Ambassador İnan on his new role and wished him success in strengthening diplomatic relations. The two leaders emphasized deepening bilateral ties, particularly in trade and economic cooperation.

One key topic of the meeting was the strategic Development Road project, which aims to connect Gulf nations to Turkey and Europe via Iraq. Both parties emphasized the importance of involving the Kurdistan Region and all Iraqi communities in this significant initiative.

In addition to discussing bilateral relations, the Turkish ambassador expressed his condolences to the family of a tourist from Duhok who was recently murdered in Istanbul. He assured the Kurdistan Region that Turkey is committed to addressing any issues affecting tourists from the region and ensuring their safety during visits to Turkey.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to resolving challenges faced by travelers and boosting cooperation between the two neighbors.
