ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - A delegation from the Iraqi Parliament's Finance Committee is scheduled to visit the Kurdistan Region next week to address the implementation of recent decisions and recommendations made by the Economic Ministerial Council, Atwan al-Atwani, Chairman of the Finance Committee, told Kurdistan24 on Saturday.

The delegation plans to hold meetings with the Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) Ministry of Finance and Economy in Erbil.

Atwani stated that the Finance Committee will act as an observer, ensuring that the agreements reached between the federal government and the KRG concerning salaries, taxes, customs, and border crossings are being implemented.

Atwani further emphasized that there are currently no obstacles to disbursing the salaries of KRG employees, and as per the Iraqi Council of Ministers' decision, these payments will continue until December.

This visit follows a recent welcoming statement by the KRG Council of Ministers regarding the decisions and recommendations made during a joint meeting of the two councils and a subsequent meeting of the Federal Iraqi Council of Ministers.

These decisions included resolving the issue of unpaid salaries for some KRG employees due to a lack of vacancy reference number.

The meetings over the two days saw discussions on several issues of mutual concern in a positive and open atmosphere, resulting in decisions on some matters and recommendations to the Federal Council of Ministers on others.

Dialogue will continue on unresolved issues that require further deliberation.

The upcoming visit of the parliamentary delegation underscores the ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation and address financial matters between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government.
