Foundation stone laid for 100-bed hospital in Sinjar

Governor al-Dakhil emphasized the importance of the project, stating that it is funded through the local government budget as part of the federal government’s broader program to rebuild Sinjar.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – In a significant step towards revitalizing the war-torn Sinjar district, the foundation stone for a 100-bed hospital was laid during a ceremony attended by several high-ranking officials. Among the attendees were Abdulqadir al-Dakhil, Governor of Nineveh, Vian Dakhil, spokesperson for the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) faction in the Iraqi parliament, Majid Shangali, Chairman of the Iraqi Parliamentary Health and Environment Committee, and Mahma Khalil, a member of the Iraqi parliament.

Governor al-Dakhil emphasized the importance of the project, stating that it is funded through the local government budget as part of the federal government’s broader program to rebuild Sinjar. “This initiative is crucial to restoring life in the district by providing essential services, ultimately encouraging the return of displaced residents to their homes,” he said. He also reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting Sinjar residents in obtaining compensation and securing ownership of their homes.

Vian Dakhil, speaking to Kurdistan24, provided further details about the hospital, highlighting that the construction cost will total 77 billion dinars, with an expected completion timeline of two years. “As representatives of the KDP in the Iraqi parliament, we worked tirelessly to ensure the allocation of federal funds for this project. Thankfully, our efforts have come to fruition,” she remarked. Dakhil also pledged ongoing support to the people of Sinjar, reaffirming the KDP’s dedication to the district's development.

This new hospital is seen as a critical component in the effort to rebuild Sinjar and provide essential healthcare services to a population that has faced years of hardship.
