Anbar Alliance Surprised by Halbousi's Peshmerga Remarks, Lauds Kurdistan's Humanitarian Stance
The Alliance recalled the "noble and humanitarian" role played by the Kurdistan Region's leadership and people during the displacement crisis.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - The Unified Anbar Alliance expressed astonishment over recent statements by Mohammed al-Halbousi, Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, concerning the arming of Peshmerga forces.
The Alliance recalled the "noble and humanitarian" role played by the Kurdistan Region's leadership and people during the displacement crisis.
In a statement, the Alliance stated, "The people of Anbar and the western provinces vividly remember the noble and humanitarian stance of the leadership and people of generous Kurdistan during the displacement crisis. Kurdistan provided a safe haven for them."
The Alliance expressed gratitude to the Kurdistan Region for its support while also criticizing "the ingratitude contained in the statements of some politicians affiliated with these provinces towards Kurdistan and its people."
They accused these politicians of forgetting Kurdistan's significant humanitarian efforts for the sake of narrow political interests.
The statement underscored that the Peshmerga forces, who made sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, are an integral part of the national defense system as enshrined in the Iraqi constitution.
It dismissed the media uproar surrounding the arming of Peshmerga as a fabrication aimed at achieving "small political gains."
The statement concluded by emphasizing the unity of Iraq and its people, stating, "Long live Iraq and Iraqis as loving brothers under the constitution and the law."
