ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – At least 10 people were killed and three others injured in a devastating road accident in Kirkuk province on Thursday, a security source reported to local media.

The collision occurred between two vehicles, a Chevrolet Tahoe and a Toyota Avalon. Authorities have sent the bodies of the deceased for forensic medical examination, the source added.

Among those killed was Kifa Hazim Zail, born in 1989, along with four children aged between 2013 and 2022. The tragedy also claimed the life of an employee of a local cement company, with a total of six fatalities, including the children, reported at the scene.

Three other individuals were injured in the accident, two of whom are children. The injured victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, while authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.

The incident highlights the ongoing concerns over road safety in the region, with many calling for improved infrastructure and stricter traffic regulations to prevent future tragedies.
