ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - The Erbil Municipality has issued a stern warning to political parties and candidates who have violated guidelines regarding the placement of campaign posters.

According to Karzan Hadi, the head of the municipality, a significant number of candidates have failed to adhere to the designated areas for posters, leading to concerns about public safety and order.

Hadi emphasized that the municipality had issued clear instructions in coordination with the Kurdistan Region's Ministry of Municipalities and Tourism and the governor of Erbil regarding where political parties and candidates could display their campaign materials.

He highlighted that certain areas, such as parks, green spaces, public buildings, and traffic signs, were strictly off-limits for posters.

Despite these guidelines, Hadi expressed disappointment that many candidates have disregarded the rules. He cited examples of posters being placed in ways that obstruct traffic and create hazards for drivers.

To address this issue, the Erbil Municipality has announced that it will notify candidates and parties within 24 hours to remove any non-compliant posters. Failure to comply will result in the municipality forcibly removing the posters and taking legal action against the offending candidate or party.

The municipality's actions reflect its commitment to maintaining public order and ensuring that the electoral process is conducted fairly and transparently.

By enforcing the campaign poster guidelines, the Erbil Municipality aims to prevent disruptions and ensure a safe and orderly election.
