PM: This factory is part of strong infrastructure in Kurdistan
The development of the industrial sector has been one of the programs within the policy that the Kurdistan Regional Government paid attention to.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – The Prime Minister Masrour Barzani attended an opening ceremony for the Erbil Copper and Cable Company ECC, on Wednesday in Erbil.
The full transcription of the Premier’s speech at the ceremony:
“I am very pleased for having theses factories established through the Erbil Copper & Cable Company (ECC), and it is of the pride to see the industrial sector in Kurdistan Region is improving day by day.
What I saw today is a group of factories that are the complement to one another, to make the necessary cables and wires to put them in the market to be useful.
During the tour in the factories, I asked how these cables are made and where do the raw materials come from? Apparently, most of the raw materials are collected from scraps that previously used to be exported, but now they are used in this factory, with a high-quality cable which will be introduced to the markets and get prepared according to the international standards.
I hope, one day, Kurdistan to be able to use from the available natural resources and minerals to make such products.
I was very delighted to hear that hundreds of jobs have been provided through these factories and many families can work in them. This is a part of building a strong economic infrastructure in Kurdistan.
The development of the industrial sector has been one of the programs within the policy that the Kurdistan Regional Government paid attention to.
This is the government’s obligation for now and the future to protect the domestic products and to be an attempt to pay more attention to the domestic products.
These products should be protected to reach to the level to compete with the local, regional, and international companies, also to sell their products abroad.
I am glad to hear they have been able to export their products to many countries, that is a very good job as well as testifies that the quality of the local products is very high.
I hope whether this factory, we just now visited or any other ones to take high quality into consideration while making domestic products, so the local products stay within the international standards.
At the same time, for Kurdistan to be able to cross the borders of the region on the industrial level, and to compete with the other companies everywhere.
We are not less than any other people. God has given us a fertile nature, blessings from God we have many talented people.
We have tried to improve the scientific level in Kurdistan, what is left is to rearrange all those abilities, so we can do something that will make Kurdistan develop in all other respects.
I wish you-all success, may all of you stay healthy, and our Kurdistan remains prosperous every day.”
Today, we opened the Erbil Copper and Cable factory, an $80 million investment with the capacity to produce 100K tonnes of cable/year from scrap metal for the local market.
