SJC issues death sentences to ISIS killers of Al-Sharqiya TV crew

The killings took place in Mosul while the crew was preparing a report for the channel. The court's decision was based on relevant articles of the Anti-Terrorism Law.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) in Iraq has issued death sentences against a member of the Islamic State (ISIS or locally known as Daesh) and two individuals convicted of murdering members of the Al-Sharqiya TV crew.

In a statement released on Sunday, the SJC announced that the Criminal Court of Salah al-Din province had sentenced a Daesh terrorist to death.

The individual was found guilty of participating in combat operations against Iraqi security forces and actively recruiting civilians to join the extremist group. The sentence was issued based on provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Law No. 13 of 2005.

Additionally, the Dhi Qar Criminal Court imposed death sentences on two terrorists who were responsible for the murder of a journalist and cameraman working for Al-Sharqiya TV in 2013.
