ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani officially inaugurated the Radisson Blu Hotel atop Mount Korek in the Soran Independent Administration. The event marked a significant milestone in the region’s tourism development, as the hotel became part of the broader Korek Tourism Complex.

Following the inauguration, Prime Minister Barzani delivered a speech emphasizing the region's historical and natural significance while outlining ambitious plans for further development. He highlighted that a master plan has been prepared for one of the largest projects in the Middle East, which will bring additional tourism infrastructure to the area.

"This hotel, part of the Korek Tourism Complex, stands as a testament to the vision of Sirwan Barzani and the Darin Group, who have brought a world-class brand like Radisson Blu to the mountains of Kurdistan," Barzani said, expressing his gratitude. "This is a sign that the Kurdish people not only defend their mountains but also turn them into a resource for tourism, serving citizens and sharing the beauty and history of Kurdistan with the world."

Barzani also paid tribute to the historical significance of Korek Mountain, a pivotal site during the Kurdish struggles of the September and Gulan Revolutions and noted its importance as a center of coexistence for diverse religions and nationalities. He acknowledged the contributions of the Peshmerga forces, whose efforts have allowed such development to occur in peace.

Looking ahead, the Prime Minister outlined the government's vision for the region, which includes the expansion of tourism projects and the attraction of both local and international visitors. "We have launched a major campaign to attract foreign tourists by improving infrastructure, including roads and airports," Barzani said, adding that the development of large-scale projects will further enhance the region's appeal.

Barzani concluded his speech by expressing hope that these efforts will not only boost the local economy but also provide a platform for sharing Kurdistan’s rich history and cultural heritage with the world. He congratulated investors for their contributions to the region's prosperity and reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring the continued growth of tourism.

The opening of the Radisson Blu Hotel is expected to play a key role in promoting the Kurdistan Region as a prime destination for both local and international tourists, highlighting its natural beauty, historical importance, and peaceful coexistence.
