PM Barzani welcomes new Egyptian Consul General to strengthen bilateral ties
Prime Minister Barzani congratulated the Egyptian diplomat on his new role, assuring him of the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) full support in expanding cooperation across various sectors.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On Thursday, Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani welcomed the newly appointed Egyptian Consul General, Mahmoud Farouk Youssef Amer, in a meeting aimed at bolstering relations between the Kurdistan Region and Egypt.
Prime Minister Barzani congratulated the Egyptian diplomat on his new role, assuring him of the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) full support in expanding cooperation across various sectors. He expressed optimism about further enhancing bilateral ties, particularly in trade, health, education, tourism, and investment.
Consul General Mahmoud Farouk Youssef Amer expressed his delight in assuming duties in the Kurdistan Region and affirmed Egypt’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the KRG. He emphasized Egypt’s readiness to explore new opportunities for cooperation in multiple areas, underlining the potential for growth in economic and cultural exchanges.
During the meeting, discussions also touched on preparations for the upcoming Kurdistan parliamentary elections. Both parties emphasized the importance of ensuring a transparent and fair electoral process, free from violations and fraud, as the region moves closer to the vote.
The meeting marks a positive step in reinforcing diplomatic ties and advancing mutual interests between the Kurdistan Region and Egypt.
