US Congressman Seth Moulton welcomed by Kurdistan Region’s President Nechirvan Barzani

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – On Friday, in Erbil, the Kurdistan Region’s President, Nechirvan Barzani met with the US Congressman Seth Moulton. 

The meeting discussed the important multi-lateral relationships between U.S., Iraq and Kurdistan Region. It also debated strengthening the current relations with the region. 

Moulton represents a new generation of Democratic leaders in Washington and was a veteran. 

It is understood that the Regional President highly valued the constant support from the U.S. and assisting region, in return Moulton reaffirmed U.S. Congress commitment regarding the assistance that’s provided to the Kurdistan Region as their valued ally. 

Furthermore, a focus was made on the coming regional parliamentary general election in Kurdistan Region, including the voting campaign which has already started, since September 25th, 2024. 

The relation between Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi Federal Government in Baghdad was another key part discussed in the session. 

The very important matter about Peshmerga reforms within the Ministry of Peshmerga was highlighted between them. 

According to the sources, the recent tensions in the Middle East and impacts, on the whole wider region, have been mentioned too. 

Moulton had a meeting with the Kurdistan Region Government’s Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on the same day.
