ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — The United States military has launched airstrikes targeting multiple Islamic State (ISIS) sites in Syria.
The strikes, which took place early on Friday Oct. 11, were announced by US Central Command in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter).
According to the statement, US forces conducted "a series of airstrikes against multiple known ISIS camps in Syria," aiming to diminish the group's operational capacity.

The US military maintains a presence of approximately 900 troops in Syria as part of the international coalition formed in 2014 to combat the Islamic State group, which at its peak controlled large territories in Iraq and Syria.
The coalition has been actively targeting remaining militant pockets in the region.
Anti-ISIS coalition forces have faced numerous attacks, including drone and rocket strikes, in recent months. In response, US forces have conducted multiple reciprocal actions against militant factions in the region, aiming to maintain security and stability.
Last month, US forces carried out two separate operations in Syria, eliminating 37 "terrorist operatives" from ISIS and Al-Qaeda-affiliated Hurras al-Din. These efforts underscore the ongoing US commitment to counterterrorism operations in the region.

US Central Command emphasized that preliminary damage assessments from the recent strikes indicate no civilian casualties.
The campaign against ISIS continues to be a critical element of US operations in the region, despite shifting geopolitical dynamics.
