ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On Sunday, the Kurdistan Region’s Prime Minister Masrour Barzani attended the ceremony of opening the Barzani Namir Educational Complex in Erbil.

Erbil's Barzani Namir Educational Complex, a government-run institution, offers a comprehensive, bilingual education system that serves students from kindergarten to grade 12. The curriculum is available in both Kurdish and English, ensuring a diverse learning environment. With around 1,000 students enrolled, the institution emphasizes quality through a pre-assessment-based admission process.

In alignment with the ninth cabinet's agenda of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to enhance the education sector, the 2024-2025 academic year marks significant progress. Forty-two new kindergarten and school buildings have been inaugurated, effectively eliminating the two-shift system in most schools across the Kurdistan Region.

The Barzani Namir Educational Complex, established under the KRG’s vision, features a range of facilities. These include kindergartens, primary, and secondary schools. The structure of the complex is designed with modern educational needs in mind, comprising 60 classrooms and 25 rooms for administrative and teaching staff, broken down as follows:

8 Kindergarten halls

18 Primary school halls

34 Secondary school halls

25 rooms for administrative staff and teachers

3 Computer labs

2 Science labs, including one for chemistry, one for physics, and one for biology

The complex also boasts dedicated spaces for art and music, enhancing the students' creative education:

4 Art rooms

2 Music rooms

2 Drawing rooms

2 Libraries for both teachers and students

Healthcare at the Barzani Namir Complex is well-equipped, offering:

2 medical personnel

6 nurses

1 ambulance driver

First aid supplies and an equipped ambulance

Sports and physical activities are emphasized through the availability of:

An open-air chess area

3 courts for football, volleyball, and basketball

An indoor swimming pool

A table tennis venue

A taekwondo space

A physical education room for instructors

The complex is supported by a dedicated administrative and teaching team, consisting of 168 teachers, employees, and educational instructors, spread across its 22,671 square meter campus.

The facilities also include two halls for seminars, meetings, and exams—one with 500 square meters and another with 220 square meters. The lush green area within the complex spans 5,000 square meters, contributing to a healthy learning environment. Security and safety are priorities, with four checkpoints, 200 sound and color surveillance cameras, a central sound system, and a fire extinguishing system.

For staff and young children, the complex offers a cafeteria space, two sleeping rooms, and two playrooms designed for children under four years old. The total number of students currently stands at 965.

Technology integration is a key feature of the Barzani Namir Educational Complex, with smart board systems installed in all classrooms and large fixed screens in seminar halls. A centralized internet system supports digital learning throughout the community.

The KRG’s ninth cabinet has been instrumental in the advancement of the education sector, constructing over 195 new buildings and 460 rooms, while renovating 1,660 schools. These efforts have created space for more than 100,000 students in the public sector, ensuring better access to quality education across the Kurdistan Region.
