PM Masrour Barzani emphasizes health sector reforms at Erbil conference
PM Barzani pointed out that the government's efforts have significantly improved local healthcare, reducing the need for residents to seek treatment outside the Kurdistan Region.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani highlighted the importance of advancing the health sector, providing improved services, and building public trust during his speech at the Health Services and Medicines Reform Conference in Erbil on Monday.
“We have taken many measures that have yielded positive results, such as monitoring medicines and food. We have made good progress in this regard,” PM Barzani stated.
“Additionally, we have built new hospitals, renovated existing ones, advanced medical equipment, and integrated technology into our medical services,” he remarked.
PM Barzani pointed out that the government's efforts have significantly improved local healthcare, reducing the need for residents to seek treatment outside the Kurdistan Region. “Now, we see patients from other governorates visiting Erbil for their medical needs,” he added.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the government's commitment to protecting the rights of both doctors and citizens, alongside strict monitoring of medicine quality. He urged citizens to use only those medicines that have the official seal of the Kurdistan Government, ensuring their safety and efficacy.
Barzani called on citizens to take a proactive role in maintaining their health by focusing on the quality of their food, seeking regular medical consultations, taking preventive health measures, and maintaining environmental cleanliness.
While acknowledging the progress made, PM Barzani stressed the ongoing need for further reforms and enhancements in the health sector. He mentioned that the government is actively working toward this goal by engaging international experts to elevate the standards of health services and medicine quality in the region.
He highlighted the importance of simultaneous development in both the public and private health sectors, with a particular focus on upgrading services in public hospitals. The Prime Minister also noted the launch of pilot projects to enhance several key hospitals, including Rizgari Hospital in Erbil.
Barzani’s remarks reflect a commitment to continuous improvement in the health sector, aiming to ensure that the citizens of the Kurdistan Region have access to high-quality medical care.
